The firm represented long time client Major Food Group in a consulting and license agreement for The Grand Grill at Four Seasons Hotel Cartagena, which opened in April 2026 following an extensive restoration and enhancement of historic buildings. The steakhouse restaurant is set within the Club Cartagena, a 1920s beaux-arts landmark building.

The firm was asked to prepare the agreement, working with MFG’s international counsel, and to negotiate and finalize this cross-border transaction with the hotel owner and Four Seasons, while addressing the complexity of the parties’ locations in different international jurisdictions.

The firm was also tasked with ensuring protection of MFG’s own restaurant standards while acknowledging the hotel manager’s position that its own standards were critical, and creatively worked to reconcile these competing priorities.

The transaction resulted in an agreement satisfactory to all parties, with well thought-out cross-border enforcement mechanisms, that protected the restaurant’s brand and standards in alignment with the hotel’s renowned international brand requirements.

The restaurant is operated by Four Seasons.
