Representing Major Food Group in its Lease of Former Tribeca Grill at 375 Greenwich Street in New York City

The firm represented long time client Major Food Group in a consulting and license agreement for the former Tribeca Grill space at 375 Greenwich Street, one of the most famous restaurants in New York City. The client will be renovating and rebranding the space as a new tavern and steakhouse restaurant. Tribeca Grill, co-founded by Robert De Niro, Drew Nieporent, and others, closed earlier this year.

The firm was asked to negotiate the lease with Mr. De Niro’s team, which retained ownership of the space. As negotiations evolved, the firm helped the parties find collaborative solutions to such issues as the new branding of the Tribeca Grill concept, the existing condition and renovation of the space, design control decisions and operational independence. The firm also helped address issues related to condominium governance, the relationship between the Tribeca Film Festival’s adjacent screening room space and other issues that arose from this first transition to independent third party operations within an integrated environment.

All parties were very pleased to come to terms in a manner that respected both the legacy of the property and our client’s own new vision for the future.
