Jumby Bay Island Retains Food and Beverage Operator for “The Hut at Little Jumby” at Neighboring Maiden Island in Antigua
The owner of Jumby Bay Island, a private island ownership community and resort located in Antigua, has retained a food and beverage manager to operate a main restaurant, a shop, bars and beach cabanas, on its uninhabited sister island, Maiden Island, aka “Little Jumby”. The island, which is accessible by boat or ferry from the mainland, has been developed by the owner, and the facilities will be operated by the UK-based operator of The Isle of Wight’s The Hut as “The Hut at Little Jumby.” Zeidel & Associates was responsible for drafting and negotiating a food and beverage management agreement which addressed the concerns of the residence owners regarding the development and operations at Maiden Island, including the financial investment and other obligations of each party regarding the construction of the infrastructure and facilities, such as the utilities, roadways, and buildings; locations of docks and details as to boat transport of employees, customers, and supplies; and tax, employment and permitting issues and other operational concerns, particularly related to the protection of the natural environment. The firm also helped the owner work through issues related to intellectual property and the enforceability of the agreement in Antigua with a UK counterparty.
